Wasu: pearl of the Red Sea, by wsmit99

City ID = 402

Author's Description:

This is my city of Wasu on the Red Sea shore. It's set to continue governing for a while, so just wait and have a look at the eye candy....
Starting the city was pretty hard. Both the mission and my clumsiness posed quite some trouble at the beginning. I started on the most eastern part by the sea. Food supplies were, as always, my first objective. I built my Palace near the ore bearing rock in the south-east. When the gold mines got active money began to pour in.
Unpleasant surprises at the beginning came from requests by other cities. The first being after a year or so for weapons! I wasn't producing any, so I had to start that one fast! I did make it though...
After the bumpy ride at first (plagues, diseases) my city began to take shape. The island with fertile soil was used for chickpea farms. With a constant supply of fish and chickpeas I supplied my home with all the necessities for them to evolve. Therefore the main part of Wasu consisted of high quality worker housing. To get my beloved prosperity rating I added a lovely scribe quarter on the river bank.
Military threats came from Bedouins and Canaanite forces. Bedouins were laughably weak though. Canaanite attacked with a couple of ship; no problem for my navy.
After Itjtawy the culture rating was again a hard target. After a while I managed to get it though and the mission was won.
My final ratings:
Culture 65
Prosperity 100
Monument 21
Kingdom 100
Funds 587.998 Deben (!!!)
Population 9.340
Mission completed in 341 months.....

Enjoy and greetings from Holland
