Author's Description:

The multiple docks of Baki

In Baki I concentrated on two things:

1. Investigating multiple docks
2. Creating a beautiful city

In Baki I created multiple disconnected docks.

I did this because I observed a log jam of trade ships with a single disconnected dock.
What I did to eliminate the jam was to create two independent docks each dedicated to certain trade routes. In other words, dock #2 (West bank), only catered to trade with Men-nefer and Rowarty. Therefore even though all ships went to both docks, if a city did not have trade at a dock it left within seconds. In my observations, I noticed that all ships went to both docks.

In Baki you can place the dock very close to the ships game entry point. This small distance and the fact you have 7+ water trade routes contributes to the problems (log jam) with one dock (also, I have not figured out Impressions queue logic, it certainly is not first ship in and first to be serviced).

In my case I was able see more products traded because two docks were more effective then one dock, and the dock workers were dedicated to trade cities.

In conclusion, this cannot be generalized. Two docks are not always better then one dock. In Baki with the number of trade cities, and the close distance to the entry point is was necessary to ease or eliminate the work done by one dock. By creating two disconnected docks each assigned to certain cities this eliminated the log jam.

This is not always necessary nor the case for all game play, and that is what makes this game great.

Take a look at the city layout. Worked hard on the entryway, the gardens adjacent to the pyramid, and the distribution centers.

Also note the double plazas. They are not hard nor costly to construct and really place an acent on the walkways used by the "Destination Walkers"

Culture = 70 (Did nor care to go higher)
