3) to make a fantistic city for living
4) to separate the industry area

The zip file contains actually two file:

Player Comment by Rene Figge:

My priorities are listed above, in the following I have summarized how I build this city.

I spend quite some time to really plan this city. Space is limited and beside the problem with placing the 3 pyramids, the mission description indicates, that war activities must be expected both in terms of helping other cities and in terms of possible attacks.

Planning the housing areas:
I’m using my own standard model for the housing areas having 23-24 elegant or fancy residences each area with population of approx 2000. Normally I’ll go for some palatial estates and my housing area model can handle this. The numbers of palatial estates are controlled by the “buy options” at the market places and by placing or removing small statues (as you see in the city). The gives you the ability to control the actual numbers of estates within one housing area and the flexibility to let the houses in this area evolve into an estate, as this must be carefully controlled in relation to the working force.

However, in this city with limited space, and the palatial estates area is a bit smaller than normal. Anyway my goal was to have some estates. Later I found, that this require importing of the second luxury good, which at the same time is the best export good. For a few years I actually did have 3 palatial estates, but I dropped the importing of the second luxury good and exported the luxury goods instead again as this is boosting the income.
Maybe I could have exported more bricks instead of luxury goods, I never really tried.

Planning the city I found, that I needed 3 of my standard blocks and some more small housing areas. These small housing areas are placed where the immigrants are entering my city and leaving the city.

To keep the city fantastic (and real), the palace, mansion, festival square, and best houses are in the same area. The entertainment areas are within the housing areas to serve the citizens.

If you sent me an e-mail, I’ll be more than happy to send you my basic model (excel or 123).

Planning the industry areas:
I normally place my industry areas in relation to exporting/importing possibilities and the raw material areas. In this city, the placements of docs were important.

The industry areas have normally one central road supporting the houses for industry workers with police, physicians and apothecary. The side roads are build for the industry itself using only firehouses and architects. Roadblocks block the road connections. This reduces the requirements to the total amount of workers (minimize infrastructure requirements) and still prevents the industry from catching fire etc. The industry areas are easily illustrated, if you check the city.

The pyramids
I placed the 3 pyramids close together basically to minimise the construction time keeping the pyramids close to the construction guilds and storage yards with stones and bricks. The two ferry connections and the dock are not connected to roads for the the rest of the city. The dock was used for importing straw and the ferries to utilize the work camps at the island.

For victory
Just let the city run for half a month. …..and ;-)
