Description:
Here is my version of Sauty (Lykopolis). This is my second attempt at “Very Hard” (Bubastis the first) and I just met the game criteria.
Culture – 70, with a goal of 70
Prosperity – 78, with a goal of 75
Monuments – 40, with a goal of 40
Kingdom Rating – 88, with a goal of 60
Could have done much better but I was getting tired and this is only a game. Created Sauty over a period of two days. Game time was 698 months. Most of the time spent creating 3 medium brick pyramids and literally putting out fires.
Here is how I approached Sauty:
Started by building housing in the Northeast and concentrated mainly on bricks for income. Had to import the straw. Built all three Medium Brick Pyramids on the Southern bank. Did not use the “Pyramid Speedup” feature. I tried to use it but I never received the blessing to do so. Not sure why this happened as I was very generous to the Gods and received many blessing during the course of the game.
The game has a bit of extortion of which I never took part in. In addition, several city trade routes closed because I was unable to supply military aide. In all cases the trade routes reopened after I sent the correct aide. In fact, in one case I got a message that I had not sent enough troops and was given a second chance. Something I had not seen before.
Typical population was about 2000 to 4000 while I was constructing the pyramids. When pyramids were complete I concentrated on increasing the population and meeting my remaining prosperity and culture goals. I also increase my income with luxury exports.
Prosperity goal was hardest to achieve, as I did not build any palaces and had only three manors (Spacious Manor being the most evolved).
“Very Hard” is less forgiving in the following areas:
1. Buildings are more likely to catch on fire so you need very good fire coverage. This was most frustrating as in some cases buildings adjacent to a fire station would catch fire.
2. Everything is more expensive.
3. Prosperity takes quite a hit if your imports are greater than your exports so you need to watch what you import and always end up with a positive balance at years end.
Still it was quite a challenge and fun at times
Never used the Island as a location for a pyramid as I had seen others do in the city submittals of the download section. Instead I made it into a recreation area. Take a look
Complete the game by submitting the remaining burial provisions, which consists of seven chariots.
Good gaming,
Vriesea
