Struggled immensely with money and labor issues in the first half of the mission. Started
with the block west of the Nile and farmed both flax and barley with a small settlement on
the east bank for fishing. Expanded the northern block east of the Nile and got serious
about brickmaking/mastaba building. However the constant demands for beer (why did I
bother producing linen?) restricted my exports and emptied my coffers, preventing the
construction of service buildings needed for population growth. After 7 yrs. I had built
only 1 small mastaba and laid the first course of the large mastaba. After taking the
bail-out loan, I started importing reeds (my settlements were too far from the reeds, and
I hate access tents, though I resorted to a couple of them near the end) to produce
papyrus for export. Then I finally got the bright idea (duh!) to use the eastern Nile
farmland for barley to produce some more beer for export/Pharoah. With money troubles
solved, the southern block on the eastern bank could be built and work on the mastabas
proceeded much faster. Definitely think this level can be done in 10 yrs. on Normal.
