Here is the city of Iken which is really a challenge from a military point of view. A couple of suggestions:
Start your mining for gold early and spplement that with linen.
Build up your military and Navy
Pay homage to Seth
I would have finished earlier and had a much better score but I thought the population objective was 8,000 (actually it was 6000) and so I took my time building the monument.
