I payed very close attention to building as much as my first population and templecomplex/government blocks, as well as opening both the trade routes. I made 10 gem mines and 6 jewellers and set up my storage such that the gemstone mines would never have to wait for their carts to return. I believe that layout is the key to my score.

I was 6000+ in debt a year after my initial setup and had a KR of 8 and almost tanked. I made as many work camps near the monuments as debt and unemployment allowed. I had 12 at one point. After the smaller pyramid site was ready, I blocked the entrance with gardens. I got out of debt, built population block#2 and made 32 plain stone mines and tried to get them direct routes to storage.

I opened limestone imports as soon as my initial debt was completely repaid. If I could, I made sure I was out of debt every December so as not to take a double hit of tribute and debt anniversary penalties. I made yearly lavish gifts as soon as I could.

After both sites were ready I replaced my work camps with masons and built new work camps near the storage yards. I maxed out at 20 masons and 10 work camps in the new arrangement. When the large pyramid needed about 40 loads of plain stone, I would periodically open the smaller pyramid up to build a level or two. It is important never to let a lack of supply interrupt the large monument. It is important to keep your work camp workers walking short distances as well as your masons.

Military-wise, I made two weapons makers as soon as I got the copper gift. I made my recruiter, academy and infantry fort when I got the 10 month Libyan warning. This was big debt time number 2, over 5000 debens at one point. Almost shut off imports at this time but made it through. After I could I made 2 other archery forts so I had 3 companies to send abroad.
